We've been awarded £127,960 from the Renewable Heat Premium
Payment scheme. The scheme is part of a competition for social
landlords to install green heating systems in houses. The money is
contributing towards a communal biomass boiler system in Rosewell,
Midlothian. Biomass boilers use wood pellets or chips as fuel to
provide heat and hot water.
Saving residents money and energy
The boiler will provide communal heating and hot water to 8
one-bedroom flats - saving residents money on their energy bills.
The project begins in the New Year and tenants and the local
authority planning department are working with us to secure the
project's success.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker
"This scheme directly targets many of the people who could
struggle to pay their heating bills in the winter and I am pleased
so many social housing organisations across the country will be
able to get a share of the cash. It will encourage an increase in
the number of new heating technologies in social housing and help
people deal with expensive fuel costs."
