Want to move home? We may be able to help if you're looking
for:
- a home in a different area
- a larger or smaller property
- a home with added support and security as you grow older.
You'll need permission from us to transfer or exchange - but
it's rare for us to turn someone down. Sometimes this happens
because tenants:
- have rent arrears
- owe us money for repairs
- have not kept their home in good condition
- have broken tenancy conditions
- want to move to a home that is too large or small for their
needs
- we don't have permission from everyone involved.

Transfers
You'll need to bid for advertised properties if you want to
transfer homes.
If you're a Castle Rock Edinvar tenant registered on EdIndex or
Homehunt you can bid for advertised properties at any time. You'll
get priority over other applicants on homes which say 'priority to
CRE tenants' on the advert.
You should only bid for homes of the size you need, in the areas
you want.
Edinburgh
If you want to transfer in Edinburgh you can bid for up to 3
properties each week.
You need to:
- complete an EdIndex form
- be clear that you're in a housing association tenancy and that
Castle Rock Edinvar is your landlord (take a look at question
8 on the form)
- make sure you're bidding for a property advertised for a Mover
(M) or Starter/Mover (S/M).
East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian
You need to:
- register with Homehunt. Once registered, you'll
receive an information pack and details of priority passes
- log onto homehunt to view properties
- call us on 0131 657 0600 quoting your homehunt
reference, the property reference you're interested in and the
address
- make sure that you submit your bid by the advertised closing
date.
Want to move to other areas?
Talk to your housing officer who will give you information and
advice about transferring.
Exchanges
If you want to swap your home you may want to consider applying
for the free Edinburgh House Exchange service. As a Castle Rock
Edinvar tenant you can register even if your tenancy is outside
Edinburgh.
How it works
Simply register and provide details about your current home and
the type of home you're looking for. We'll check and approve the
information you provide. You'll receive log in details for
Edinburgh House Exchange where your property will be listed, and
you can start looking for someone to swap with.
You must be a Scottish Secure Tenant before your request for a
mutual exchange will be considered.
