Graham Waddell

Graham worked for Nationwide Building Society over a period of 32 years during which he held a number of Senior Executive positions in a range of disciplines including Retail Banking, Marketing, Customer Experience, Risk and Strategy development. His professional qualification is FCIB. He was also the Managing Director of a Nationwide subsidiary company, which was a large private landlord and property owning vehicle. His experiences include developing retailing strategies and negotiation of very large contracts. Graham is keen to utilise his experiences to improve the efficiency, risk profile and tenant experience within Castle Rock Edinvar. Graham joined our board in September 2013.

Julie Jackson

Julie is currently the company secretary and legal director for Miller Homes and was previously the legal director in a commercial property investment and development business. Julie has over 25 years experience as a solicitor both in-house and in private practice, having moved to Miller from leading Scottish practice, Dundas & Wilson, 10 years ago. With a background in property development, Julie's responsibilities and interests have expanded to include risk management, corporate governance and compliance. Julie joined our board in September 2013.

Stephen Oswald

Stephen joined the Castle Rock Edinvar Board in August 2013 having relocated to Edinburgh from London after a 25 year period of study and work in the property and construction industries. Stephen has recently joined the Places for People Scotland Board in the position of Chair and the Castle Rock Edinvar Nominations and Governance Committee. He was a Director of Guildhouse UK between 2001 - 2012, responsible for delivering major private and public sector projects. Currently Stephen works for the Capital Projects team at Robertson Group. He is also a Trustee of Edinburgh Palette, a charity which provides low cost studio, business incubation and office space to artists, entrepreneurs and community organisations.

Stephen is passionate about creating sustainable environments that enable people to thrive and communities to flourish by considering the development and delivery of services more holistically. He understands the impact that employment, housing, education, health services, social care and leisure facilities have on the general wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.

Stephen has been involved in lobbying government about improving the integration between public services. He is also a champion for greater transparency and efficiency with regards the procurement and delivery of public projects.

Andrew Winstanley

Andrew is the Group Executive Director - Finance, at Places for People and was appointed to the Castle Rock Edinvar Board in August 2017.

Janet Hamblin

Janet joined the Castle Rock Edinvar Board in April 2018 and took up the position of Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee in May 2018. Janet has a wealth of experience in advising and auditing charities, social housing and education sector clients and heads up the dedicated not for profit team in Scotland. She has over 25 years' experience in her field.

Janet joined RSM in 1996 and specialises in audit and advisory services for charities, RSLs and OMBs. She also has experience in social impact, risk management, corporate governance and strategic planning. She carries out training for boards and audit committees and regularly chairs and speaks at social housing and charity conferences. She is a non-executive board member of Scottish Government recently becoming Chair of the Scottish Government Audit and Risk Committee. She is also a member of the Education Board of the Merchant Company of Edinburgh and a Member of the ICAS Public Sector Committee.

Janet trained and qualified with PWC where she worked in their SME Audit and Business Advisory Group for 14 years and also first started to specialise in the not for profit sector.

Pamela Scott

Pamela joined the Castle Rock Edinvar Board in May 2017 and was recently appointed to the position of Chair of the Nominations and Governance Committee and as the Senior Independent Director. Pamela Scott is a Director at Diageo with responsibility for Global Operational Excellence. She has a strong commercial background and significant experience of leading and developing Human Resources and more recently in procurement and supply chain management and she brings significant commercial and leadership experience to the Board. Pamela joined our board in May 2017.

Ben Dale

Ben Dale joined the board in August 2017 after initially spending more than 4 years on the board of subsidiary company Places for People Scotland Ltd. Ben is a Chartered Banker currently employed by RBS as a senior manager and Head of Credit Quality Assurance, with more than 17 years experience in various risk management and real estate finance roles. He initially trained as an architect and worked in practice in Italy and the UK before taking up a career in banking in 1999.

Alison Freshwater

Alison joined the Castle Rock Edinvar Board in May 2017 and recently joined the Nominations and Governance Committee. Alison is a corporate finance lawyer and is currently employed by Aberdeen Standard Investments in their Private Markets & Real Estate structuring team. Alison has 12 years' experience of finance transactions and has been working exclusively on private markets with a strong focus on real estate since 2015. Alison's career experience compliments her non-executive role and she has demonstrated clear alignment with the values of Castle Rock Edinvar.

Alan Devine

Alan holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland. Alan was a Senior Executive at RBS and was formerly the CEO of the RBS Shipping Group. He has a wide background of knowledge and experience of some 40 years in Commercial and Investment Banking where he lead and managed a number of Sales and Risk disciplines with international responsibilities.

Alan currently holds a number of Non-Executive Director positions: Chairman of GSLS, an Irish based PE backed cash logistics business; Senior Independent Director of Standard Life Private Equity Trust, a UK listed Investment Trust; and Director of Capitalflow Holdings, an Irish based SME Finance Company that specialises in Asset Leasing and Property Finance. Within each of these positions Alan also acts as Chair and/or Member of the relevant Audit & Risk, Remuneration & Nominations, and Credit & Portfolio committees.

Tavish Scott

Tavish is Head of External Affairs at Scottish Rugby. He was a Member of the Scottish Parliament for Shetland from 1999-2019, held various ministerial posts including Minister for Transport between 2001 and 2007 and has extensive Parliamentary experience. He was leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats between 2008-11. He is a board director of Shetland Space Centre Ltd.
